Today is Good Shepherd Sunday, a day of special prayer for vocations to the work of service in the Church. Jesus died and rose for people of every race and nation. His command to his Church was to go out and preach to all people, we pray for people of faith to respond to that comand.
Jesus assures his disciples that he is risen from the dead and sends them to preach the gospel in his name. He assures us of this too, and we are sent to be his people in our family, among our friends, in all parts of the world.

The call of God is always to become more like Jesus in how we treat his people. We know our failings: the call to repent in today’s gospel is also the promise of God’s forgiveness for our filings and sins.
