Today is a day of prayer to deepen our own sense of vocation, and to pray to the Lord to call men and women into a life of ministry and service within religious life.

Jesus assures his disciples that he is risen from the dead and sends them to preach the gospel in his name. He assures us of this too, and we are sent to be his people in our family, among our friends, in all parts of the world.

Jesus is glorified by his father and receives his mission from him. Jesus’ transfiguration encourages us to be confident that we shall be with God eternally if we are faithful to him now.

The Christian life is a calling from God to be companions of Jesus and work for the spread of his love and justice. All of us are asked to do this in our own lives.
