We are called to be members of God’s own holy people. Today God is sending us out as witnesses for him.

The life of God is a sharing of life in the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The call of the christian is to share this life in family and in community with others, so that we are all sharers of faith, hope and love with others.

The coming of the Holy Spirit is a gift of God for all peoples: the sign of his presence is in the reconciliation, justice and peace we create among people. the feast today is both a gift and a call: a call to be the ones who make the Holy Spirit present among God’s people everywhere.

Wherever the love and compassion of Jesus is present; there we find his Spirit. Wherever his people try to spread some justice and equality, we find his Spirit. In any work of reconciliation or of peace, his Spirit is present. We are called to be people who spread the work and the presence of his Spirit.

We are all called into God’s service, some as priests and religious. Today we pray for all people who  have given their life to serving God and living his Gospel. We pray that many others may follow the Lord in this way.

Jesus assures his disciples that he is risen from the dead and sends them to preach the gospel in his name. He assures us of this too, and we are sent to be his people in our family, among friends, in all parts of the world.
